Plums are good for boosting immunity and help with indigestion. The most common treatment to treat constipation in babies, is adding prune juice in the baby’s diet. Seasonal Fruit Delight – Plum Panna
Plum is a seasonal fruit and in season for a short period of time, which is around May to October. Perhaps no version of fruit can beat the taste of a fresh juicy bite of plum, still I like to try and consume it in different ways. Plums are available for such a small period that you would like to enjoy this nutrient dense fruit in all possible avatar. One of that versions is this delicious sweet, sour and savory plum juice drink, which I am sure you are going to enjoy it in a same way like my friends and family love it every single time.
Enhanced Plum Juice or Plum Panna Recipe
The addition of fresh green mint, roasted cumin seeds and black rock salt to enhance its taste makes it ideal cooler to beat the heat of hot summers in addition to a perfect digestive drink. To make this drink you need to roast the plums first, it can be boiled as well but I chose to roast them rather because roasting takes it to a next level by intensifying its flavor, color, juice and its natural sugar.
Roasting Plums to make Plum Juice
Do you know that medium of heating can change the way natural sugar reacts? So, roasting is a dry heat method of cooking which helps in caramelizing the natural sugar of fruit and help in bringing out all the hidden flavor of fruit and if the plums are sweet enough not very sour then probably you don’t even need to add any additional sweetener to this drink. There is one more reason of roasting over boiling that plum contains high percentage of water-soluble vitamins and fibers. Roasting help to keep those nutrients intact in fruit itself.
Homemade Healthy Fruit Drink for Kids – Plum Juice
Being a Mom of school going kids one question always bugs me, i.e. what to pack as drink for them? The juices available in the market are nothing but a flavored sugar syrup with unwanted ingredients and chemicals in them. Freshly squeezed juices need to be consumed as soon as it is prepared unless they are treated with heat; hence, the choices are not much when it comes to packing drinks for school. This plum juice drink at least gives me few days of relief from that, whenever I prepare it. I, usually pack this drink in an insulated flask or bottle with lots of ice in it to maintain the temperature, the cooler the tastier isn’t it.

I have been eying this drink for a while but wasn’t sure if I would be able to do the justice to Rupali’s recipe and also we are not a fan family of plums. Two days ago my husband just casually mentioned about his cravings for aam panna and to this I could only think of Rupali’s plum panna recipe. I secretly tried and boom it turned out perfect. The drink’s color was beautiful, tasted super refreshing, and full of flavors. I highly recommend trying this recipe at home. Thank you Rupali for sharing the recipe; looking forward to many more.
