If your family, kids or guests are high on munching savory snacks, then this oven roasted oats and nuts savory trail mix is a much healthier option compared to any store bought mixtures. This savory trail mix has no unhealthy saturated fats and at the same time has all the goodness of whole grains, unrefined oils and natural fats & proteins. Oat are known to be heart healthy and nuts provide essential nutrients like proteins, Omega-3, fiber, unsaturated fats and vitamin E, etc. This savory trail mix can also be stored in air-tight containers at room temperatures for two to three weeks and longer when refrigerated. Last but not the least, this easy recipe only take 30 mins from start to finish and there is no chopping, cutting or any other kind of prep work involved.

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 275oF.
  2. Mix oats and all the nuts excepts raisins (or munaka)in a mixing bowl.  If you coconot chips are thick then add now or if they are thin then add towards the end of the roasting process.

  4. For tampering, heat oil in a pan. When oil is hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seed, sesame seeds and curry leaves. Let them splatter for some time.

  5. Add this tampering to nuts and oats mixture and then give it a good mix.

  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread this mixture evenly on it.

  7. Place the baking sheet on center shelf and keep stirring the mixture every few minutes for even roasting. It took me 20 minute, you might need to adjust the time for different quantity.

  8. If you did not add the cocnut chips in the starting before roasting, then add now.

    How much time shd it be left in the oven with door opened


  2. I made the oats and nut trail mix for a weekend trip. It was so easy to make and I whipped it up in a jiffy since I had all the items in the pantry. This is an awesome recipe. It was a delicious guilt free snack both adults and kids indulged in. The recipe steps and pictures are very descriptive and helpful. I will making this every other week and snack on it.
